Being the largest producers of rice china is still the largest importer of Rice in the world. China turns towards India for its rice needs as Vietnam and Thailand and Myanmar have a shortfall of production of rice due to covid-19 pandemic.

China for the first time in at least three decades of imports rice from India. Due to the tight supply of rice from other country and discounted price from Indian industry china is interested in buying rice from us official told.
India is the world biggest exporter of rice and china is the world biggest importer. Importing 4 million tonnes of rice annually but always had avoided the Indian market due to quality issue.
B.V. Krishna Rao, president of the Rice Exporters Association said: “For the first time, China has made rice purchases. They may increase buying next year after seeing the quality of Indian crop,”.
Indian rice market has a contract to export 1,00,000 tonnes of broken rice for December - February shipments at around $300 per tonne, industry officials said.
