First In world to get 8 'Blue Flag' Certification for Indian Beaches In one time from Foundation For Environmental Education(FEE).
Blue Flag Certificate was given to eight Indian beaches from four International juries, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), UN World Tourism Organization(UNWTO), UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and Foundation For Environmental Education (FEE). Although FEE always gives this 'Blue Flag' Certification, this time it had included IUCN, UNWTO and UNEP as Jury.
Karnataka bagged two certificates for its beaches Kasarkod in Uttara Kannada and Padubidri in Udupi District. Gujarat bagged one certificate for Shivrajpur beach in Dwarka. Union territory Diu bagged certificate for Ghoghla for its golden sand beach. Kappad Beach of Kozhikode, Kerala gets a certificate. Andhra Pradesh bagged one certificate for Rushikonda Beach in Vishakhapatnam. Odisha gets one certificate for Golden Beach also known as Puri Beach you will be aware of the famous sand art of Sudarshan Pattnaik hear. Andaman and Nicobar union territory bagged one for Radhanagar beach in Swaraj Island (Havelock Island).
How important is Blue Flag for India?
Many countries spend crores of money to get Blue Flag which reminds me to tell china is one of that country trying. The certification is known as an indication of high environmental and quality standards.
India has also won the third prize by the jury under the " International Best Practices" for pollution control and coastal regions.

To qualify for the Blue Flag Indian beaches maintained a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria must be met and maintained.
Criteria in getting Blue Flag Certificate From FEE is divided into four heads such as
1. environmental education and information.
2. bathing water quality
3. environment management and conservation.
4. safety and services at the beaches.
