Chinese Spacecraft Chang-5 Probe Lands Successfully On Moon.

The unmanned Chinese mission to the moon was launched on 24 Nov with the 'Chang-5' probe. With the aim to collect lunar rocks and return them back to earth.

Chinese space media reported the unmanned vehicle got successfully landed on the lunar surface on Tuesday in a historic mission to retrieve a lunar sample and return it back to earth.

The Spacecraft was named Chang-5 based on the mythical Chinese goddess of the moon. This mission will help Chinese scientists to understand the lunar surface and its origin.

The probe Chang-5 landed and will collect the sample from a previously unvisited area in a massive lava plain known as Oceanus Procellarum or "Ocean Of Storms" and will collect 2 KG of lunar rock samples.

If the mission goes as planned then China will be the third nation having collected Lunar rock samples other than the USA and Russia.

But before landing burn, all the broadcast events were abruptly stopped which created a lot of confusion.

The whole mission is scheduled for 20 days including the return of the probe to earth. The probe may re-enter the earth's atmosphere and land in Inner Mongolia, North China.
