The meeting will be jointly chaired at the deputy minister level from Uzbekistan and Iran and the security level from India. This is the first-ever trilateral meeting between India, Iran and Uzbekistan on Chabahar port use.
The trilateral meeting was announced soon after the summit between Prime Minister of India Modi and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. During the summit, Uzbekistan proposed for a trilateral meeting between India, Iran and Uzbekistan on using Chabahar as a transit port. India welcomed Uzbekistan interest and arranged for a trilateral meeting between the three countries.
"This would open up economic opportunities for the traders and business community of the region", a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs.
Due to the Chabahar port location, there are other central Asian countries who are also shown interest in Chabahar port.
For the Double Land Locked country Uzbekistan this port can benefit them to scale up their economy.
Has there is growing tension and sanctions from the US to Iran, this deal can benefit them too.
To counter Pakistan obstruction to India's trade with other countries like Afghanistan and central Asia, India built Chabhar port and even developing the railway line connectivity in Iran to reach to other countries.
