Speculation about Jack Ma got intense after he failed to appear in the final episode of his own talent show, 'Africa's Business Heroes'. The show is aimed at giving building African entrepreneurs a space to compete for a US $1.5 million prizes.
A news agency also reported that he was replaced as a judge in the show during finals and even his images were removed from the webpage.
Jack Ma's direct wrangle with the Chinese communist regime has led to a crackdown on his business and his disappearance from the public space.
Jack Ma's trouble started with the Chinese government when he directly criticized China's regulators and state-owned banks for their 'backwardness' in a speech.
Because of his remarks, Chinese President Xi Jinping has personally ordered a halt to the offering by Alibaba's financial affiliate company, Ant Financial, which was set to raise USD 34 billion in the biggest stock-market debut in history.
