| Tibetan Govt-In-Exile President Lobsong Sangay Visits White House Creating History |
The Govt-In-Exile President Lobsong Sangay visits the White House for the first time after China's capture and occupation of Tibet in 1950.
On Friday the US invited the Exile President of Tibet Lobsong Sangay to meet the appointed US Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues, Robert Destro.
This strong move from US President Donald Trump is widely welcomed by the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) which is in Exile.
China had seized control over Tibet in 1950 and described it as "Peaceful Liberation". The exiled Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama says Beijing's rule has made "cultural genocide".
Earlier US State Department's office of policy planning released a blueprint for containing China. The US report "Elements of the China Challenge" it is aggressively targeted China policy and also as written in the report "military occupation of Tibet", which is extensively criticized by China. In the past US, the department had realized the same type of report on behalf of the USSR.
