Atal Tunnel Road is One of the Longest Road Tunnel in Our Nation, This Tunnel Road Constructed with Two-Lane, One lane is for Vehicle IN and One More Lane is For Vehicle EXIT. This ATAL Tunnel Road Lenght is 9.02km with a Width of 10.5meter.

Reason For this ATAL Tunnel Road because of Reaching Himachal Pradesh places for Tourist to reach out on time with saving of 46km, In winter season because of Heavy Snow Fall Vehicle can not move so Now this Atal Tunnel Road is helping to Save Traffic in Winter Season with Safety.

For this ATAL Tunnel Road Construction Cost Rs.4,000/- Crores Approx and Constructed by AFCONS Infrastructure Limited, Shapoorji Pallonji Group, STRABAG AG, Spar Geo Infra Pvt Ltd.Specification of this Tunnel is Horse Shoe Shaped Single Tube Tunnel with 3,000 nos of cars can go.

ATAL Tunnel Road Consist of CCTV and Telephone Facility for Safety and Fire Exit with Emergency Exit also.

Strategic Importance Of Attal Tunnel.

The 9 Km long tunnel under the Pir Panjal Range, name after former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. This tunnel is world longest highway tunnel above the altitude of 10,000 feet (3000 metres)

 

The very first importance is to reduce of 46 Km from Manali to Leh. Journey time from Manali to Leh was almost five hours to negotiate in Rohtang Pass. During Winter this narrow road would be also shut. Rohtang Pass is a showcase of tuff terrain situated at a height of 13,500 feet.

Using Attal Tunnel you can reach lay within ten minutes. The tunnel now will be a boon to the residents of the Lahaul and Spiti valley. Yes, this residence was cut off from the rest of our country in winter for six months due to heavy snowfall.

The tunnel will now give all-weather connectivity to troops stationed in Ladakh.

Future Tunnel Challenges

Its not over yet, after reaching leh the troops still have to face three different difficult passes. Like Baralacha Pass, Lachung La Pass and Tanglang La Pass. These all pass are very hard terrien and army faces heavy difficulty to move troops at winter.

1. A 13.2 Km long tunnel will have to be built to negotiate the 16,040 feet high Baralacha Pass.

2. Another 14.78 Km Long tunnel will be required at the Lachung La Pass at 16,800feet.

3. A third 7.32 Km long tunnel will be required at Tanglang La pass at 17,480 feet.
