Researchers of Purdue University created world whitest paint, which can reflect 95% of sunlight. Previously other shades of white paint could only reflect light up to 80 - 90%. Researchers also told me that it is cheap to produce the paint.

Researchers of Purdue University has manufactured world whitest shade of paint - which they believe can slow down the process of global warming in future.

The team of researchers led by mechanical engineer Xiulin Ruan, who had been working on this subject from past six years, say the shade of white is so bright that it reflects 95.5 per cent of the sunlight that hits the surface of the white paint.

They have published regarding this research in Scientific Paper Published This Month.
Published Paper tells that, this white paint can give full daytime sub-ambient radiative cooling effect. Till now no paint was able to give ambient cooling effect which this made possible.

Researchers proclaimed that if this white paint painted on roof top of the house then it will keep house temp cool.

The paint act has reflector of all the sun's heat back off the top of the roof of buildings so because of this reason expensive electrical air conditioners are no longer required to keep interior of house to a moderate temperature. The process of reflecting back off surfaces is known as 'passive radiative cooling'.

Air Conditioner is always considered a huge contributor to greenhouse gas emissions.

The paint is cool even when touched. The researchers also told that the new shade of white paint can cool down surfaces by a whopping 18 degrees Fahrenheit.

Prior to the group's creation, the whitest shade of paint only managed to reflect between 80 and 90 percent of sunlight.

What makes this new shade of white paint cheap is it features calcium carbonate (CaCO3).

As we know calcium carbonate is extremely abundantly found like in limestone, shells and chalk. Which makes this paint to produce cheap.

'Our paint is compatible with the manufacturing process of commercial paint, and the cost may be comparable or even lower,' Ruan told Science Daily.

'The key is to ensure the reliability of the paint so that it is viable in long-term outdoor applications.'

Ruan and his group of researchers say the cooling paint could even be applied to other objects, including cars and telecommunications equipment, such as 5G towers.

However, one thing scientist is wondering how to solve that is, how to control temperature extremely cold temperature in winter.

Because of the temperature drop due to external rooftop paint, the temperature in the room will be very cold and people have to buy a heater instead of A.C in Summer.
